Yes, Sumela, indeed China is the proverbial adult in the world. Its work in Panama and its related work worldwide demonstrates that, despite the ceaseless disinformation campaign against China, the world should wish to emulate it. China is the world's leader vis-a-vis poverty alleviation, green development, renewable energy, biodiversity protection, etc.
The British government has the Department of Leveling Up, which ostensibly intends to improve life for Brits living in the depressed portions of England, mainly northern and western England, which suffer from crumbling infrastructure and poor public services. But, from what I've been told and from what little I've seen, nothing ever happens. The British government's Department of Leveling Up is little more than a rhetorical device.
On the other hand, the Chinese government has vastly improved infrastructure and public services for hundreds of millions of its citizens over the past twenty years. It has demonstrated that improving people's lives is a relatively easy task when it is a governmental priority, unlike here in the U.S.
